What is ENHANCE?

Spanning from December 2023 to May 2026, ENHANCE is a European Commission-funded project designed to amplify the voices of adult learners in education.

By cultivating participatory learning environments, ENHANCE aims to empower learners to actively shape their educational experience, leading to higher engagement, improved outcomes, and stronger communities.

The project brings together educational organisations, researchers, and practitioners across Europe to develop learner-centred resources. These resources are designed to help educators create more relevant, impactful learning experiences that truly empower adult learners.

Through ENHANCE, we are working to transform adult education by providing the tools to help learners take control of their learning journey – making education more meaningful and engaging for all.

Our Work

The ENHANCE Matrix

An interactive, user-friendly tool that maps current practices and initiatives promoting active learner participation. It provides a critical analysis of what works well and where improvements are needed, helping to enhance learners' voices in education.

The ENHANCE Roadmap

A practical guide to creating spaces that amplify learner voices. It includes a workshop methodology for educators, recommendations for policymakers, and mini booklets co-created with learners on reclaiming their voice and building inclusive, outspoken learning processes.

The Partners

The ENHANCE project is composed of eight partners across the European Union and coordinated by the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA).

EAEA

EAEA advocates for adult education in Europe, empowering professionals and shaping policies to foster lifelong learning and societal empowerment.

SOLIDAR

SOLIDAR Foundation promotes social justice in Europe, focusing on lifelong learning and active participation in democratic processes.

AONTAS

AONTAS is the national voice for adult learning in Ireland. They advocate for systemic change, conduct research and promote educational opportunities for those left furthest behind.

DAS KOLLEKTIV

das kollektiv is an independent association dedicated to supporting migrant women in Austria. They focus on critical educational work, fostering exchange, and producing critical knowledge to promote equal participation in society.

NHE

NHE champions community engagement and human rights in Pécs, Hungary, driving social integration and educational initiatives since 1993.

ABC

Stichting ABC advocates for low-literate individuals in the Netherlands, promoting their inclusion and voice through volunteer-driven initiatives and education.

SVEB

SVEB is Switzerland's key advocate for adult education, fostering lifelong learning through collaboration and support across educational institutions.

FÄRNEBO

Färnebo is one of Sweden's 156 folk high schools, which are dedicated to peace, international solidarity, and environmental issues. Located in Österfärnebo and Gävle, the school serves as a beacon for community-oriented learning and advocacy.

CINOP

Based in the Netherlands, CINOP is a social organisation that specialises in making education more flexible, and professionalising teachers and teams. They develop knowledge on vocational education and implement practical solutions for inclusive education.
