Färnebo folk high school is one of the 156 folk high schools in Sweden. We were founded in 1991 by 12 organisations from the Swedish movements for peace, international solidarity and environment. We are located in Österfärnebo, a small village in the countryside with about 1400 inhabitants and in the city of Gävle with about 75 000 inhabitants. We also do blended distance learning at the national level. We have about 25 teachers employed and some 200 students. Our focus is popular education on issues of democracy and active citizenship, climate change and environment, feminism and antiracism, global justice and local development.
